INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION


Objective

To transform PSRS manual business processes through provision of ICT solutions for better service delivery.-

Functions of the Division:-

  • Coordinate preparation and implementation of ICT policy, ICT strategic plan, ICT guidelines and procedures in line with National ICT policy.
  • Advice PSRS Management on matters pertaining to policies related to ICT and e-Government implementation.
  • Design and maintain ICT infrastructure and application systems.
  • Coordinate provision of technical advice and support to PSRS on ICT and data management.
  • Monitor the use of e-Government in PSRS.
  • Coordinate development of ICT standards for software and hardware acquisition at PSRS.
  • Coordinate development of ICT Enterprise, Application, Network/Technology and Security Architecture.
  • Coordinate training needs assessment on MIS and ICT and prepare capacity building plan.
  • Supervise the implementation of risks management pertaining to ICT infrastructure and Management information systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance of ICT systems (application and infrastructure).
  • Coordinate collection of graduates information and professionals from higher learning and other institutions.
  • Coordinate maintenance of PSRS Wide and Local Area Network.

This Division is led by a Deputy Secretary and has two Sections as shown hereunder:-

  • ICT Applications Section, and
  • ICT Infrastructure Section

ICT Application Section

This Section will perform the following activities:-

  • Design and develop ICT Application Systems.
  • Design, develop, administer and manage database in PSRS.
  • Collect graduates information and professionals from higher learning and other institutions.
  • Maintain and manage PSRS website.
  • Facilitate the use of e-Government in PSRS.
  • Maintain relevant software/programme at PSRS.
  • Provide specifications for procurement and installation for ICT application systems.
  • Review standard software applications and advise on appropriate options.
  • Undertake ICT Quality Assurance, Application Programming and Life Cycle Management.
  • Prepare training needs assessment on MIS and ICT and capacity building plan.
  • Prepare technical and architectural strategies, standards and direction based on exploitation and innovation of evolving technologies and how the business operational processes will benefit from those technologies.
  • Facilitate the performance and assessment of risks management and control pertaining to ICT applications.
  • Provide ICT support to all users and prepare ICT user manuals and monitor their implementation.
  • Provide continuous availability and maintenance of application systems.
  • Carry out troubleshooting for ICT application and provide solutions.

This Section is led by Principal ICT Officer.

ICT Infrastructure Section

This Section will perform the following activities:-

  • Prepare ICT policy, ICT strategic plan, ICT guidelines and procedures in line with National ICT policy.
  • Develop ICT Enterprise, Network/Technology and Security Architecture.
  • Develop long-term strategies relating to servers, data storage and server operating systems.
  • Maintain PSRS Wide and Local Area Network.
  • Develop hardware standards for operating systems, servers and peripheral equipments.
  • Maintain ICT assets and inventory.
  • Develop recovery strategies to ensure high availability of systems.
  • Facilitate the performance and assessment of risks management and control pertaining to ICT infrastructure.
  • Carry out troubleshooting for ICT infrastructure and provide solutions.
  • Provide specifications for procurement and installation of ICT infrastructure facilities.
  • Review ICT infrastructure standards and advice on appropriate options.
